The Executive Board of Directors (EBOD) work behind the scenes to aid the efficient operations of UGC while representing the entity as a whole. Officers are involved with a variety of multidisciplinary efforts that include creating and executing programs and events to serve UGC, maintaining chapter dues and budgeting, representing the council at workshops or events, working with the OFSL office and other Greek councils, or keeping a strong presence through marketing and social media.

Durnig Spring quarter of the academic year, each position is open to all members within UGC who are interested in broadening their leadership capabilities by taking on roles that will enable them to dive further into the world of Greek administration. Once elected to the Executive Board, members will go through a transition period with outgoing officers to ensure an efficient handover process. Being on the Executive Board allows Greeks to represent their houses while creating positive change that can benefit both their chapters and UGC as a whole.

Be sure to look out for more information on elections as the academic year progresses!

    Message from the President

Welcome to the Multicultural Greek Council!

As the 2019-2020 UGC President, my hope is to grow a sense of belonging within our council as well as ensure we are able to make an impact on our members and community. My EBOD and I are driven and passionate about leaving a mark on our council by creating purposeful programming, along with ensuring inclusivity in every way. As underrepresented communities on campus, we strive to ensure our members are seen, heard, and supported throughout their college careers. This is why MGC is also focused on making sure we are known and represented on the University of Washington Campus.

I truly believe that leaders are not born, they are made. They are made with the experiences, wins, losses, and everything in between. Every single one of our members are leaders in our community and our hope is to have our younger members feel confident in being that leader early on in their college career.  Through workshops, retreats and new opportunities, we want to ensure that by the end of the 2019-2020 school year, our members feel like they were able to grow and develop through MGC.

My freshman year I made the decision to join a Latinx Sorority. I can proudly say that joining this sisterhood was one of the best decisions of my college career. My sisters have taught me to stand up for myself, take up my space as a women of color, and be a strong leader.  There are countless opportunities that I would not have taken or felt ready for if it weren’t for my sisters supporting me and guiding me. I recently had the opportunity to be the Educator for our newest sisters, and it is an experience I wouldn’t trade for anything. I have grown in numerous ways and now, as a senior, I am able to give back to my sisterhood and support our members that remind me of my shy freshman self.

If you are wondering whether or not Greek life is for you, I encourage you to attend an event, workshop, or social put on by our incredible organizations. The people you meet, the values they uphold, and the impacts they make are amazing and something that is one of a kind. Explore your options and find an organization that you can see being your home away from home.

    Sincerely,

    Ambar Aleman
