alpha Kappa Delta Phi is an international Asian-interest sorority established at the University of California, Berkeley in the fall of 1989 and recognized by the College Panhellenic Association on Februrary 7, 1990. Their 14 founding sisters dedicated themselves to creating an organization that would allow Asian American women to participate in Greek life. They brought together a diverse group of women who shared the values of sisterhood, scholarship, and leadership. Today, aKDPhi has 60 Chapters across the US and in Canada.

The Pi chapter was chartered at the University of Washington, beginning the expansion of aKDPhi into the Pacific Northwest in 1997.
